Description

The course deals with information systems research at the Faculty of Information Technology. Researchers and research groups will present research topics and the results of their research and will present the students with research articles. The course also supports students with considering their own thesis topics. The course focuses on research topics and results. The course does not cover research methods.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student

  • will be familiar with different research areas within IS
  • will know about the research groups within the faculty and will know the topics researched in different groups
  • will be familiar with the state of IS research
  • can evaluate the value results of research can give to individuals and society
  • can think of relevant topics to research in IS

Description of prerequisites

It is recommended that the student will have basic knowledge of information systems as a research field.

Learning assignments based on lectures and other course material. Other course material can include e.g. research articles and video lectures.
Evaluation criteria:
To pass the course, the student needs to complete each learning assignment with a passed grade.
