Description

Climate change is a multi-dimensional question that is not limited to one region or country. This course is an intensive introduction to the social dimension of climate change in order to learn about climate change-related social sciences research and the main concepts.  

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, students should be able to:

  • evaluate and apply relevant concepts and theories in the realm of social sciences of climate change
  • understand what kind of phenomena climate change is from a social science and cultural viewpoint and can critically evaluate possible solutions to climate change
  • describe the essentials of climate change-induced conflicts
  • reflect on the ethical concerns related to climate change
  • present their knowledge in the field through basic skills of scientific writing

Recommended prerequisites: SOSS3106 Environmental sociology
