Management practices in sport and leisure

Description

Current issues, challenges and contemporary management practices in sport and leisure, across a broad range of providers, particularly in commercial sector and tourism.

Connection of Course Contents to UN Sustainable Development Goals

This course looks into sport and leisure management by paying attention to different especially local and regional business cases (e.g. in tourism and other SME’s) and how they can be responsibly organized, arranged and managed. Sustainable Development goals such as 3 good health and wellbeing, 8 decent work and economic growth, 9 industry, innovation and infrastructure, 11 sustainable cities and communities, 12 responsible consumption and production, 15 life on land and 17 partnerships for these goals.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, student is able to:

  • identify current issues and contemporary management practices in sport, leisure and tourism

  • understand the differing frameworks and approaches to the sport and leisure management by applying management and leadership concepts, together with theories and evidence, the relationship between sport, leisure and professional market

  • understand the objectives, values, styles and outcomes in management contexts in different international contexts

  • apply knowledge, concepts and methodological skills to a variety of sport management issues, problems and interactions.
