The course introduces students to research work in an application area of psychology.

Description

Research-oriented internship is carried out in a placement of the student's choice, usually in a research organisation. The internship must be related to an applied field of psychology (e.g. developmental psychology, work and organisational psychology, neuropsychology, health and mental health psychology), and may also be carried out at the Department of Psychology of the University of Jyväskylä, if the teaching and research staff have such opportunities to provide. Internship may be carried out in one or more research projects on a part-time or full-time basis, with flexibility to fit in with the student's other studies. To ensure the suitability of the placement, the student must submit a internship plan, approved by the course supervisor before the placement starts. The learning experience is reported in the form of a learning diary.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will have acquired knowledge and research skills in an applied field of psychology. They will be familiar with the practices and methods of research projects related to at least one of the research phases (research design, data collection, data analysis, reporting of research results). They will be able to apply the research skills they have practiced.

Additional information

Suitable for foreign students visiting University of Jyväskylä and studying psychology as their main subject. Course can be used as a part of CIPA module only if not included as a part of another study module such as “Psykologian aineopinnot”.
