Introduction to research methods in clinical psychology and classification of mental health problem and processes of mental health and mental health problems.
Description
The course will introduce students to the history and features of diagnostic classification systems of mental health problems, research methods in clinical psychology and current research topics in the field of intervention science. In addition, students will be familiarized with typical clinical features of common mental health problems and approaches to understanding individual circumstances and processes related to mental health.
Learning outcomes
Students will have basic understanding on the key features of current classification systems for psychiatric diagnoses. Students will be familiar with common research methods and some of the current research topics in the field of clinical psychology. Students are able to analyze individual factors contributing to psychological wellbeing and mental health problems.
Additional information
”Suoritustapa 2” (mode 2 of study) is available for foreign students visiting Jyväskylä University only. Course can be used as a part of CIPA module only if not included as a part of another study module such as “Psykologian aineopinnot”.
