Developing familiarity with scholarly literature relevant to the masters thesis.

Description

In this course the students will write an essay outlining and discussing the scholarly literature that supports their masters thesis.

This course is to be taken during the research and writing of the thesis and in parallel with the masters seminars.

The instructor for the course is the student’s supervisor.

The focus and questions of the essay are to be agreed on with the supervisor. 

Learning outcomes

As a result of participating in this course, students will be able to: identify and describe the literature that forms the scholarly background of their masters thesis; determine the key scholarly debates to which their thesis contributes.

Assignments are evaluated on the basis of the students’ mastery of the contents of literature, demonstrated skills in critical evaluation of arguments and the application of theoretical concepts to political issues.
