Description

Master’s Seminar 1 prepares students for independent scientific work and thesis writing. Themes covered include information retrieval, source criticism, research ethics, argumentation, and methodological and epistemological questions related to thesis writing. The seminar includes assignments aimed to support the development and narrowing of thesis topics. These include an annotated bibliography and literature review. Participation is possible after completing a lower degree and its associated thesis.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student will be able to:

  • Outline the research topic of the graduate thesis, and formulate research questions

  • Seek and critically evaluate academic literature for the thesis

  • Write a literature review that demonstrate the current state of their research topic.

Timing: 1st year of study. Recommended to be taken at same time as

- XYHH4001 Project management module (3 ECTS)

The assessment is based on how the student achieves the learning objectives of the course according to the current mode of completion. This includes active participation in teaching (at least 80 %) and successfully completing assigned tasks.
