Description

This course introduces students to the theoretical and methodological foundations of music psychotherapy, touching on clinical practices as well. During the course, students will become familiar with the key literature in music psychotherapy from both theoretical and research perspectives. The central approaches in music psychotherapy, such as clinical improvisation and methods based on music listening, are at the core of this course.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student:

- Has gained an understanding of the theoretical foundations of music therapy, with a particular emphasis on psychodynamic and integrative psychotherapy perspectives

- Is familiar with the main diagnostic target groups for music therapy and the key features and findings of research related to them

- Is acquainted with the main lines of clinical methods in music therapy and their specific characteristics

- Has acquired a solid foundation in music psychotherapy that can be utilized in their own research activities, such as in thesis work.
