Description

The course introduces existing media channels that popularize musicological research. Students practice the communication of academic content learned in previous courses by utilizing different forms of media. During the course, the basics of copyright law relevant to online publishing are also introduced.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student:

  • is familiar with the possibilities of new media in popularizing musicological knowledge.

  • is aware of the ethical responsibilities related to popularizing science and online publishing and can take these into account in their own activities.

  • has acquired skills to produce various content utilizing text, audio, and video materials in communicating musicological perspectives to a broader audience in both Finnish and English.

Timing: 2nd or 3rd year.
