Description

This course presents the main subfields, research traditions and methodologies of music psychology. Topics covered include musical skill development, musical preferences, music and personality, music and movement, music and emotion from research perspective.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student will be able to:

  • Understand the psychological nature of different aspects of musical behaviour

  • Describe the main research perspectives of the subfields of the course contents in Finnish and in English

  • Compare and contrast methodological and theoretical concepts related to music psychology in Finnish and in English
