Description
Organising scientific conferences, school visits, participating in the organisation of events such as the researchers' night, events for companies, or similar.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student
- has been an active participant in outreach activities in mathematics and science (e.g. school visits, collaboration with companies, faculty events for the general public)
- has become familiar with popularisation of mathematics and science
- can communicate their own and faculty research in a general way to a variety of audiences
- can communicate in an understandable way the relevance of science and mathematics to different audiences
- understands the importance of societal interaction for their own research and career and for the development of society and science
- understands the relationship between science and society and the role of research in society
- can identify different stakeholders and understand the importance of stakeholders for the university and the researcher
- has developed his/her networking skills
Additional information
To receive the credits, student submits a short written report to the responsible teacher in their department (see responsible teachers). The report should include:
1. what tasks the student has done,
2. when the tasks were completed,
3. how much time (in hours) was spent preparing and completing the tasks, and
4. how the learning outcomes of the course have been achieved during the tasks.
1 credit corresponds to approximately 27 hours of work (including the time spent on planning and preparation, and writing the report).
