Description
Basics of abstract algebra: modular arithmetic, rings and fields, polynomial rings, divisibility of polynomials, ideals and quotient rings
Learning outcomes
After completing the course successfully the student
- knows the basic properties of rings and fields and the most essential examples of them
- knows how to compute and examine divisibility in residue class rings and polynomial rings
- knows the concepts of ideal and factor ring
- can tell the connections between divisibility of integers and the basic theory of rings
