LIBESIS Systematic Information Seeking (1 cr)
Description
The course introduces scientific information seeking and management skills needed in studies and expert tasks in working life. You will complete an information seeking plan, which will be an easy-to-use tool in the future as part of studying and scientific writing.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student masters the basics of scientific information seeking.
Student:
- is able to plan their information search
- is able to convert their research topic into concepts and concepts further into keywords
- is able to combine keywords and form a search phrase
- is able to evaluate and adapt the search results they receive
- is familiar with the publication practices of their discipline
- can identify the key information sources in their field
- is able to search for information in scientific databases
- understands the importance of citations and copyright
- is able to decide how to save the references they find

The course is recommended for all students, especially for degree students in international master’s programmes. The course can be completed both in autumn and spring.
