The course introduces students to the discipline and interesting phenomena of cultural policy.

Learning outcomes

 After completing the course, the student will:

  • know the basics of cultural policy as a research tradition and academic discipline

  • be familiar with the key questions and research goals of cultural policy, and understands their local, national, regional, and international dimensions

  • understand the central concepts and approaches used in cultural policy

  • be able to describe what KUMU and cultural policy brings to academic and societal debate.

Taught course. Independent work on written assignments is possible in special cases.

Evaluation criteria:
The grading scale in all completion modes will be numerical: 0-5. The grade will be based on the evaluation of the assignments that measure the extent to which the learning goals have been achieved. In courses organized in the form of contact teaching, completion requires 80% attendance. For independent learning, completion of the unit requires that written assignments are completed and approved by the instructor in charge.
