The course focuses on interesting research issues related to the relationship between belief and culture.

Completion methods

Taught course or independent work (book exam, reading group or assignment).

Assessment criteria

80% participation in teaching and written assignments or lecture exam. Completion by independent study – essay or book exam.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will:

  • be familiar with the main conceptual and theoretical bases for researching belief
  • recognise the importance of mentalities and world views as fundamental cultural phenomena and
  • understand the relationships between different beliefs, cultures and societies and know how these have been researched.

Evaluation criteria:
The grading scale in all completion modes will be numerical: 0-5. The grade will be based on the evaluation of the assignments that measure the extent to which the learning goals have been achieved. In courses organized in the form of contact teaching, completion requires 80% attendance. For independent learning, completion of the unit requires that written assignments are completed and approved by the instructor in charge.
