KLAS1309 Diversities in Education and Pedagogy (5 cr)
Description
Intercultural education and guidance counselling, cultural (ethnic, social class, worldviews) and linguistic diversities, identity, culturally responsive teaching, prejudice, discrimination, participation, equity, anti-racism.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will
- be able to recognise and evaluate their own values and actions and the relevance of these in pedagogy and guidance counselling
- reflect on their own position of power in relation to others in the educational settings
- be able to analyse and apply theories related to diversities in education
- have greater awareness of the opportunities and challenges for pedagogy and guidance counselling brought by increasing diversities
- have the readiness to promote social and cultural sustainability in educational settings
