KEMS9850 Advanced Level Chemistry Experimenting (2–30 cr)
Tweet text
Description
The work and the work plan must always be agreed in advance, and the supervisor must discuss about the project with the responsible professor of the discipline at University of Jyväskylä. The content of project varies depending on the work to be performed (typically requires being present).
The work introduces the occupational safety, research methods and implementation requirements of research in the given field of chemistry. The project will allow the student to apply the gained knowledge and skills from chemistry courses in practice (typically requires being present). At the end, the student prepares a written report.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course with grade 1, the student is familiar with the following main research steps: setting a research question(s), may include performing literature survey and analysis, choosing experimenting methods for a given topic, carrying out research tasks, interpreting and analyzing the obtained results, reporting and discussing the results, and drawing conclusions. The student is able to use the necessary experimenting techniques to solve research questions independently.
After completing the course with grade 1 the student
- has a structured picture of research tasks in their field.
- is able to outline the skills and knowledge required in experimenting work.
- is able to work as a motivated, committed and responsible member of the work community.
Description of prerequisites
