Description

Course concentrates on basics of ESI-TOF mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) and compound characterization using mass spectrometric analysis. Special focus is on practical execution of analysis. 

Learning outcomes

After the course, student is familiar with safe and appropriate work practises in ESI-MS laboratory. Student understands basics on MS-analysis planning, execution and reporting.


Working life skills

Student masters planning of his/her own work, tasks and scheduling.  Student can give verbal and written answers in questions and justify answers clearly. Student is able to discuss about mass spectrometry in english. People skills develop in group work. Student understands ethical and environmental questions related to course context. Student can independently search literature and information to aid planning of analysis. Student can give verbal and written answers to prolems and write scientific report on laboratory work. Student is able to discuss about mass spectrometry in English.

Passed grade from course KEMS534 Basic Principles in Mass Spectrometry or equivalent knowledge.
