The course introduces structural research methods used in inorganic chemistry.

Description

The course introduces analytical research methods used in inorganic chemistry, including for example: Mössbauer spectroscopy, NQR spectroscopy and X-ray absorption method (EXAFS, XANES).

Learning outcomes

The course introduces structural research methods used in inorganic chemistry and analysis methods closely related to them, excluding diffraction methods. 

Students who have successfully completed the course:

  • understand the principles of the structural research methods covered in the course.

  • is able to interpret data produced by different research techniques.

  • understands the advantages and limitations of different methods.

  • Is able to critically interpret the data produced by different methods and apply the information in the characterization of the structure.

  • is able to combine information produced by different methods and create an overall picture of the structure.

Working life skills

  • The course provide capabilities for utilising different research methods in solving practical problems in chemistry.
