Description
This course provides students with an advanced understanding of ethical research practices and the impact of research on society and organizations. It emphasizes critical thinking and ethical considerations in scientific research, covering key concepts such as philosophy of science, research design, methodology, and ethics. This course helps students to read business and economics research literature and provides a foundation for further learning about qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Course content will help to understand the UN Sustainable Development Goal 10 Reduced Inequalities (Reduce inequality within and among countries).
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- provide students with an understanding of the nature of scientific knowledge, including the main principles of philosophy of science and their connection to research design;
- understand the role of the researcher in knowledge creation and the impact of business and economics research on society and organizations;
- advance students’ understanding of business and economics research methods and of their opportunities and limitations;
- develop students’ analytical and critical thinking skills that are essential for conducting business and economic research;
- gain an understanding of the research ethics principles and the role of Artificial Intelligence in the research process and how these can affect data collection and analysis.
