Description

The course teaches the basic regression model using structural equation modelling, which model is extended to the path model by introducing the mediator model. The construction and testing of the measurement scale is guided by confirmatory factor analysis and testing the factorial invariance. The model is extended to longitudinal data by presenting the principles of constructing a longitudinal factor model and a latent growth curve model. The course includes exercises for the R-lavaan program.

Completion mode: Independent and / or assisted learning and verification of learning from exercise results.

Learning outcomes

After completing the basics of structural equation modelling (SEM), the student has a good understanding of the method and its statistical modelling possibilities. After completing the course, the student will be able to critically evaluate the performance of his/her measurement structure or statistical model by identifying its strengths and limitations. The course provides a good basis for analysing your own data through R-lavaan program and further develop analysing skills using SEM.

Evaluation criteria:
Completion is assessed on the basis of the student's mastery of the course content and achievement of the course objectives. To obtain an approved grade, the assignments must be completed successfully. If the completion method includes contact teaching, active participation in the teaching and successful completion of any other tasks indicated in the teaching is also required.
