Learning outcomes

Having completed this course, a student will

  • have deepened their understanding of different dimensions of international history and global history, in the long term and especially in the 20th and 21st centuries
  • have strengthened their ability to consider local, national and European history in a global perspective
  • have deepened their critical, analytical understanding of different interpretations in this field and of the approaches, theories, research perspectives and source selections that underpin them

In addition, a student who has completed the course will have developed further

  • their ability to manage large sets of data and to analyse information
  • their group work skills and interpersonal skills
  • their skills in written communication and argumentation
  • their skills in internationalization by reading research literature in a foreign language and by exploring the transnational character of the development of research-based knowledge
their ability to connect their learning on the course to the professional needs of the workplace

It is assumed that students who want to take this course will have previously completed the course ‘HISA1004, International and global history I’  

Study materials

In participation in teaching, the study materials and literature depend on the precise format and content of the course. The literature for essays is set in conjunction with the course instructor.

Method 1

Description:
Participation in teaching, written work and an examination or/and other tasks linked to course lectures/seminars.
Evaluation criteria:
Regardless of the mode of completion, a numerical grade on the scale of 0-5. The course grade will derive from the assessment of the required course tasks that measure the degree to which the intended learning outcomes have been reached.

Description:
An independently completed essay/two essays, whose content is set in conjunction with the course instructor.
