The course will deepen the knowledge of approaches to the study of preindustrial societies and the understanding of a wide range of phenomena.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will  

- have an in-depth knowledge of the main approaches, theories and methods of research

- be able to apply and analyse the knowledge they have acquired and to refine it into a scientifically sound presentation

- be able to analyse in depth social and economic developments and structures and the changes that have taken place in them 

- have developed her/his ability to manage large-scale issues and to analyse data

- can identify and make confident use of source material from a chosen period or subject area and draw research-relevant conclusions from it.
