Description

During the course, students will practice writing, editing, and evaluating different types of user documentation. Technical communication standards, processes, and research projects will be discussed during the lectures. The final assignment is a project related to the topic and scope of the course.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students should have a solid understanding of the main principles of technical communication, including:

  • Technical communication standards and processes
  • Technical communication workflow: writing in the R&D environment
  • User-orientation and minimalism
  • Writing procedural and modular documentation

Additional information

Attendance requirement for completing the course: 80%.

English degree programme students and minor students in English complete the course in English. The Finnish language course is aimed at students in Information and Software Engineering and those students at the department of Language and Communication studies, who are completing the Tiedon muotoilu ja tekninen viestintä study module.

Completion methods

Method 1

Description:
Contact teaching: This completion method consists of participating in the lectures, completing the small weekly tasks and doing the final project.
Evaluation criteria:
Attendance requirement for completing the course: 80%. The final grade consists of participation (pass/fail), 30 % weekly tasks and 70% final project. Assessment criteria available in Moodle.
