Description

The course aims to improve students’ oral skills in English and increase their theoretical and practical knowledge on a selection of themes related to spoken communication. Students are expected to be able to take part in university courses through English and later to use English in their professional lives. This is therefore a foundational course for further work in developing communication skills.

Learning outcomes

After the course the student

  • pronunciation: is comfortably intelligible in English
  • has familiarized herself with different varieties of English and foreign accents
  • has basic knowledge of English phonology and prosody, including phonemic transcription

Completion methods

Method 1

Description:
Hours of contact teaching: 6 lectures, 12 pronunciation workshops. Written assignment on phonemic transcription, individual assignments and readings. Attendance policy is 83% in language lab sessions.
