Description

The goal of information design is to present complex information in a way that is understandable and accessible to the intended audience. Efficient information design is a key factor in the self-service society of today, where citizens are increasingly required to operate complex systems to accomplish everyday tasks. Students will explore the different aspects of information design through practical activities.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students should have a solid understanding of:

  • The history and current state of text accessibility research
  • The methods for designing accessible information for various audiences
  • The impact of modern delivery channels on information design.

Additional information

English degree programme students and minor students in English complete the course in English. The Finnish language course is aimed at students in Information and Software Engineering and those students at the department of Language and Communication studies, who are completing the Tiedon muotoilu ja tekninen viestintä study module.

In addition to the course literature, students will choose additional materials for their final project.
