This course explores theoretical and pedagogical insights into dialogic education with particular attention given to Bakhtinian theorisations.
Description
- Introduction to the philosophical precepts of dialogism
- Exploration of contributions from and between dialogic educators
- Careful consideration of dialogism and dialogic approaches to education and educational research
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will
- understand basic principles and key concepts associated with dialogism and dialogic education
- be able to appraise dialogic approaches to education and the contribution of dialogism to educational research
- recognise how dialogism can contribute to pedagogical decision-making and action
