Description

This course introduces students to the concepts and methods used in populaton genetics. From basic principles of allele frequencies, mechanisms of evolution, population structure and quantitative genetics, to the coalescent and what can we infer about the natural selection or demographic processes from existing genetic variation.

Learning outcomes

After this course the student can do allele frequency calculations, compute quantitative genetic summaries ja apply the theory of population genetics in the study of natural populations and examine the results critically.
