Description

During the course sessions, identification of species in different organism groups and their habits and ecology are learnt as guided by an instructor who is specialist on the group. The course includes introductory lectures, demonstrations as well as laboratory and field exercises.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to

· describe the most important morphological characteristics of the taxonomic groups in question, as well as the most important factors that should be taken into account when identifying individuals of these groups.

· properly handle samples of each group of organisms and is able to identify individuals to species or other reasonable taxonomical level.

· describe the main features of biology, ecology and diversity in these organism groups.

Additional information

Sessions are organized according to separate announcements in the evening hours (16-20). The course may include intensive course sessions.

Description of prerequisites

Basic level courses of species knowledge.

Method 1

Description:
Participation in identification demonstrations and exercises. Six participations in a full event (demonstration and practice) equals two credits. Two credits are awarded for completing the one-week intensive course.
