Evolutionary Ecology modelling

Description

How can theoretical models help us to understand evolution? We study this question with a variety of methods (population genetics, quantitative genetics, optimization, game theory, adaptive dynamics, individual-based simulations, dynamic optimization), implemented as computer simulations in Matlab.


Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the participants
- understand the usefulness, limitations, and philosophical basis of formal modelling in evolutionary ecology
- know modelling approaches such as population genetics, quantitative genetics, optimization, game theory, adaptive dynamics, individual-based simulations, and dynamic optimization
- can write simple models in Matlab.
