The course will cover basics of cellular structures and functions
Description
The main areas covered in the course are: the role of water in cellular function, classification of biological macromolecules, structure of cells, cellular membranes, intracellular signal transduction, cell respiration, and cell division and gene expression.
Learning outcomes
This course discusses the evolution of cells, their structure, function and regulation. After the course the student can explain how cells have evolved and explain the main functions of nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and carbohyrdates in cells and tissues. The student can also describe the main cellular structures and their functions. The student understand the flow of hereditary information and basic principles of metabolism.
