Description

Identification of organisms is practiced in different habitat types focusing on typical flora. Identification of habitat types is rehearsed during different season than in the previous course. During the field work special attention is paid to peatlands, although also features and guiding plant species of forest habitat types are studied. The most important mushrooms are studied and identified especially in the field. Report from the field inventory study (BENA2032) will be prepared and oral presentation will be given.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, the student should be able to

· identify and describe the main habitat types (forests and peatlands) and their typical biota regardless of the season.

· to identify the most common Finnish mushroom genera and the most important species with the help of literature.

· be critical for the identification and has a tentative ability to assess the reliability of the identification.

(under supervision) report phases, methods and results of the inventory project, both in writing and orally.
