Description

This course guides participants through the publishing process by helping them select appropriate journals to communicate their research to the most suitable audiences. The course is structured around three broad themes: types of academic articles, the process of selecting a journal, and the peer review and publishing process. The latter point comprises strategies to communicate with reviewers and deal with challenging situations. 

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, participants are expected to…

  • be aware of and follow the structural conventions of different types of academic articles in their field
  • be able to select the most suitable academic journal(s) for their own manuscript(s)
  • understand the different stages of the publishing process and the steps they should follow when preparing to publish an article
  • know how to communicate effectively in the peer review process
