Description
Legislative oblibgations, principles and practices of surface water status assessment and monitoring. Targets and obligations of management, with special reference to EU.
Learning outcomes
After the course the student knows
- The objectives and obligations of legislative assessment, monitoring and management of the ecological condition of surface waters, particularly in EU countries.
- The principles, problems and uncertainties of measurement, classification and monitoring of the ecological status.
- The importance of the legislative restrictions and rationales in all activities affecting surface water ecosystems.
- Basics to adopt professional law enforcement, consulting or research tasks related to ecological status assessment, monitoring and management of water bodies.
