KEMS6880 Advanced Laboratory Exercises of Analytical Chemistry (1–12 cr)
Description
Individual, one-by-one suited laboratory exercises:
- LC-MS exercise, 1 ects
- chiral chromatography with HPLC/SFC-instrument, 1 ects
- characterisation of biomass, 2-4 ects
- analysis of monosaccharide by GC, 2 ects
- IR/RAMAN exercise, 2 ects
- soil analysis, 3 ects
- water analysis, 3 ects
- recovery of metals, 2 etcs
Learning outcomes
After the laboratory exercises the student is familiar with analytical sample treatment, measuring concentrations with different instrumental analytical methods and statistical treatment of results.
The student is acquaint oneself in practice with chemistry and processing of biomass, metal recovery from different waste materials and environmental and bio-organic analysis.
Working life skills
The student can independently treat samples and understand the importance of sample treatment in chemical analysis. The student is also independently able to use chromatographic and spectroscopic instruments. The student can clearly report how laboratory exercise were done and what results were obtained and also evaluate the obtained results and possible experimental errors. The student masters how to work safely in laboratory. The student´s people skills, responsibility for own duty of the experiment and ability to shedule the experiments will develop during group working.
Additional information
The student enroll on those implementations of laboratory exercise he/she wants and contact to teacher in charge to receive more information of the exercise, performance and occasion.
