Description
Introduction to the importance and general applications of chemistry in nature, industry and in the living environment of man.
Learning outcomes
After passing the course the student
- understands the importance of chemistry in society
- acknowledges the role of chemistry in society
- recognizes the connection between chemical reactions and everyday life
- recognizes and understands chemical processes, which are vital for nature and involved in naturally occurring phenomena
- has a command of the principles of green chemistry
- knows typical chemical phenomena and reactions occurring in the living environment.

- Basic knowledge of chemical safety and regulations
- Information seeking and choosing scholarly and reliable sources
- Time management.
Description of prerequisites
Basics of upper secondary school level chemistry or equivalent is recommended. This course does not require knowledge of other basic chemistry courses.
