Description
Physics with electromagnetic calorimeters (ECal), particularly with proposed ALICE Forward Calorimeter (FoCal) upgrade. ECal clusters coming from single photon hits. Neutral pion reconstruction using ECal clusters. Basic principles of the electronics, signal handling, and energy calibration in FoCal. Examples based on studies of expected performance of FoCal.
Learning outcomes
Hands on experience on analysis with electromagnetic calorimeters. Selected topics on physics of gluon saturation, physics motivations behind the ALICE FoCal upgrade
Description of prerequisites
