The course familiarizes students with different aspects of professional communication and gives them hands-on practice of producing texts and other content that is relevant when applying for a job.Completion methods

The final grade consists of 50 % written assignments, 30% overall participation and 20% student’s self-assessment.Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to
- identify and critically evaluate the functions and linguistic features of documents that are central to the contemporary job application process
- write different types of texts for professional life, including resumes and letters of application
- recognize and promote skills that are essential in their job market
- participate competently and confidently in oral activities relevant to working life, such as ‘small talk’, meetings and job interviews
- engage effectively in teamwork and decision-making in English
- understand cross-cultural issues particularly as they apply to workplace talk
