Description

This course provides students with insights into and practical tools for communicating in writing and speaking in work-related contexts, including teaching.

It consists of analyzing the main features of different professional genres, discussing various communicative contexts and practicing communication skills.

The course is divided into three stages:
1. Analyzing and producing text types (small group work)
2. Overviewing and practicing aspects of spoken communication (contact teaching)
3. Giving a practice teaching session or presentation (independent or small group work)

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students will be able to

  • recognize genre features of various types of texts in working life;
  • understand and use both oral and written work-related language;
  • promote interaction and participation in groups;
  • present content in accessible and engaging ways;
  • give clear instructions both orally and in writing:
  • give constructive feedback.
