DEVM5001 Contemporary Topics in Development Studies (1–5 cr)

For completing the lecture pass:
-Choose lectures or seminars relevant to development studies. We generally rely on your judgement of relevance, but you can always ask us if you are uncertain.
-Write a summary / reflection of at least 1 page for each lecture hour. This should include the key points raised in the lecture; a reflection of what you particularly learnt; what particularly struck you as interesting; and when applicable, what points were not convincing to you. Note that the aim is not only to summarise the content, but to reflect on your learning process.
-Alternatively, you can write a joint discussion report. This means that a maximum of 3 students follows the same lecture / seminar, then discusses about its content and writes together a summary of the discussion: what kinds of points were raised as you reflected the lecture together, what you agreed/disagreed on, etc.
-While a reflection is not meant to be strictly structured and can involve reference to personal experience, etc., it should generally follow an academic style of writing.
-Do remember to state clearly the titles and dates of the lectures and names of the lecturers in the reflection essays!

Details on completion:
-The lecture pass is graded merely as “pass”, instead of using the numerical scale.
-Please make only one submission, instead of sending the essays lecture by lecture.
-The lecture pass can be worth 1-5 credits.
-In the lecture pass, each 1 credit is awarded for a minimum 5 lecture hours. Some flexibility in case-by-case evaluation is possible.
