Kuvaus

JSBE lecturers will introduce students to the basic concepts of responsible business and what conducting responsible business means in practice. The course will then focus on the human aspects of responsible businesses, discussing the challenges in the macro- and micro-organizational eco-system that can affect sustainability initiatives in an organization. Then the focus will turn towards the role of the consumer and the discussion on the function of consumers in relation to sustainability and how individual choices can make a real impact. Followed by this, students will be provided a holistic introduction to digital marketing by explaining its key drivers, basic concepts and principles that are needed to plan, execute, measure and analyze digital marketing operations. Finally, the focus will turn towards applied open macroeconomics with a special focus on the Finnish economy.

UPC lecturer will introduce students to emerging markets macro characteristics, to reflect on the connection between policies and the local macroenvironment and to give an insight into the typical challenges of an emerging economy, including regulations, taxes, permits etc, particularly in Chile and Peru.

Osaamistavoitteet

On successful completion of this course, students will get insights into doing business in Finland, in Chile and in Peru – the similarities and differences - and will learn about emerging markets, responsible business, digital economy and applied macroeconomics. Group work and discussions in multinational groups will develop students’ skills of intercultural communication and academic English.

Esitietojen kuvaus

This course is designed for 3rd or 4th year students majoring in business. 10 course places are reserved for UDD and UPC students and 5 for JYU students. The remaining 5 places are open for other HSSS applicants.

The course is comprised of a virtual kick-off workshop, pre-reading tasks and five days of face-to-face studying at JYU, including some 24 contact hours of lectures & seminars, group work and a written learning log (learning diary).
