KEMSYVERI Advanced Studies in Chemistry as Optional Studies (60+ cr)

Advanced chemistry studies emphasize broad subject matter management and expertise as well as development as a researcher and expert. The studies consist of lectures, assignments, laboratory assignments, independent study and thesis. The studies apply the latest research methods and knowledge in the field and are well versed in laboratory work and / or computational chemistry. Versatile working life skills are an important part of your studies. The acquired understanding of the structure of matter at the microscopic level can be applied to a wide range of chemical problems in research and industry. Studies also focus on areas of social importance and related analytics.

Thesis for Optional Advanced Study Module is done in the research groups and its topic is related to the current research carried out in the groups. The work may also be carried out in collaboration with other academic actors and industry or expert organizations.

Upon completion of the advanced studies, the student will master the basic theories of chemistry and especially his / her specialty. Student is able to analyze information critically and understand the importance of continuous learning. Student is able to acquire information, plan, schedule and work independently and in groups. Student understands and can interpret the results of the work numerically and graphically, drawing conclusions. Student is able to report the work orally and in writing, taking into account the different target audiences. The student is able to work independently in the laboratory and is familiar with occupational safety and is able to take into account different risk factors. The student has extensive methodological skills and is able to apply them to his / her own work. The student is able to make, identify, analyze and model compounds.
