JSS Tutor will guide international students and lecturers to right places during the Jyväskylä Summer School. The tasks and role of each individual tutor can be agreed upon with the course coordinator and lecturer, depending on the requirements of the course in question. The tasks can include e.g. the following:
- Copying lecture notes for course participants and assisting during classes and demo lessons
- Meeting the lecturer and helping with their hosting
- Getting the course participants and lecturers acquainted with Jyväskylä and the Finnish culture
- Helping with the organization of social program events

Completion methods

Tutors can gain 2 ECTS upon tutoring. A written report about tutoring after summer school is required.

Learning outcomes

The student
- knows what his/her duties and responsibilities as a Jyväskylä Summer School tutor are
- knows how to tutor an international group of students during a short Summer School course as well as how to work in cooperation with the Summer School teachers
- knows how and where to search for information and solutions to problems as well as to guide the international students to do the same
- knows how to advise international students in practical questions related to the university and the living surroundings
- knows how to take into consideration cultural differences in his/her communication and actions
- knows how to take accessibility and equality into account in his/her work with the international students
