Content

The course examines culture in terms of citizenship, cultural heritage, movements and participation. The course also covers the role of cultural and arts organisations and non-profit arts businesses as actors in the cultural field.

Completion methods

Taught course or independent work (book exam, reading group or essay).

Assessment criteria

80% participation in teaching and written assignments or lecture exam. Completion by independent study – essay, a book exam or reading group.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will:

  • know the role of cultural organisations as actors
  • be aware of the relationship and cross-sectoral collaboration between the non-profit and public sectors
  • understand the role of culture and the arts in influencing society and as a means of participation
  • be able to work in the fields listed above.
