Description

Integrated wood utilizing bioproduct mills. Deep familiarizing on current and evolving integrated wood-based bioproduct mills. In these mills, feedstock can be utilized more profitably than conventionally. In addition to fibers, products from hemicelluloses and lignin will be isolated and refined. Different profitable methods for utilizing fibers will be considered diversely.

Learning outcomes

Chemicals and products manufactured in bioproduct mills will gradually replace the fossil-based products. In this course, especially the bioproduct mills integrated to fiber production will be studied. After the course student knows chemical features of these mills with respect to processes and products.


Working life skills

Students learn to deal with biorefining related subject and to prepare a poster and a powerpoint presentation on that topic. In addition, students will learn to defend their own as well as to examine another issue constructively and critically.

The course is lectured in 2021-2022. The course can be taken by book exam and essay in 2020-2021 and 2022-2023.
