Tweet text

Due to the renovation, the course schedule may change during the years 2020-2023.

Description

The first part of the course consists of qualitative analysis as well as simple inorganic synthesis to introduce a number of basic analytical and characterization methods. The second part (research projects) demonstrates the process involved with modern synthetic research including

  1. literature survey and writing a research plan,
  2. conducting the research in the lab, and
  3. reporting the results (written report and group seminar presentation).

Learning outcomes

After passing the course the student has learnt basic skills and understands theoretical background involved with inorganic synthesis and with basic analytical and characterization methods.

Working life skills:

  • In addition to basic synthetic techniques in inorganic chemistry, the student knows the fundamentals of planning, implementation and reporting the results of research project.
  • Reporting: research plan, seminar presentation and written report.
  • Interaction skills: working in small groups, pairs and independently.
  • Presentation skills: seminar presentation in pairs
