HISS2011 Management and Organizational History (5 cr)

After completing the course, the student will:

• be aware of the different interpretations related to the subject
• recognise the approaches, theories, methods and source selections behind research results
• recognise the importance of organisations and institutions in the development of societies
• understand the multidisciplinary nature of historical research on business, organisational and economic management
• based on knowledge of diverse literature, be able to conduct an analytical academic debate on the subject both orally and in writing
• have an understanding of the specific issues related to the subject area
• recognise the global nature of the subject and be able to place Finnish developments in international context
• understand the significance of history in organisational change

After completing the course by book test, the student will also have

• acquired advanced problem-solving skills

After completing the course by essay, the student will also have

• acquired broader and more advanced information retrieval skills
