After completing the study unit the student can
describe the main experimental evidence of wave-particle dualism
describe the photon and its main properties
define the de Broglien wavelength and apply the uncertainty pronciple
explain properties of the hydrogen atom based on the Schrödinger equation
describe the quantization of energy and angular momentum and electron spin
apply the Pauli exclusion principle to atoms and molecules
describe the types of bonding, vibrations and rotations of molecules
explain the Bose-Einstein and Ferm-Dirac statistics and their consequences
describe the crystal structure, crystal vibrations and electron structure of simple solids
descibe the electron structure of a crystalline solid
explain why some materials are metals, insulators, semiconductors or superconductors
solve simple problems starting from given basic equations
