Description

Content 

The course aims to improve students’ oral skills in English and increase their theoretical and practical knowledge on a selection of themes related to spoken communication. Students are expected to be able to take part in university courses through English and later to use English in their professional lives. This is therefore a foundational course for further work in developing communication skills.

After the course the student

  • participates more competently and confidently in a variety of oral activities, such as group discussion, debate, negotiation and small talk
  • pronunciation: is comfortably intelligible in English
  • has familiarized herself with different varieties of English and foreign accents
  • has basic knowledge of English phonology and prosody, including phonemic transcription
  • has familiarized herself with video conferencing
  • can give an effective presentation
