Description

Content

This course builds on the Basic Studies course ’English in the World: Past, Present and Future’, focusing more on primary research than textbook information. You will learn about the way English has taken on unique linguistic and sociological characteristics in the different countries where it has spread. You will explore attitudes towards these emergent varieties of English. You will also learn about how English has been integrated into official contexts such as government, education, media and other areas of civic discourse.
